In the real world, things like this often happen. For example, in the story about Rosa Parks, Rosa got tired of letting the whites come before the blacks. That created an external problem, which is that she didn't give up her seat. That created an external problem, sending her to jail. Then another problem occurred, which was that she went to jail, soon teaching people to stand up for themselves. To add on, many people create a string of problems from one problem, because of problems within, and those occur to the outside world.
This makes me realize that many people can cause problems because of things they refuse to talk about, and create problems for themselves. The Internal and external affect each other. The external problem in the story a pet by Cynthia Rylant, was that Emma's parents went and bought a blind used up old fish, all because it was very cheap.
This shows that Emma's parent are so selfish, they couldnt buy a pet of Emma's choice and that would've been a lot more younger. But, Joshua came out to be the best thing that happened to her. Also, it is like cause and effect, that Emma's problem became to a good moment to the best moment to the saddest moment to the worst moment. The internal and external problem connect to each other because the external problem can be the cause and the internal problem the effect or vice versa.
To add on, I concur with Aisha because the external problem being that Emma got a goldfish and that affected her inside because she was sad and angry at the same time.
